We all matter

I'm going to say this and I mean every word. All lives matters. Black lives, white lives, police lives, human lives. They matter. We have a huge problem in this country with our relationship with our police. I'm including everyone in this. God help us, we need to remember how to talk TO EACH OTHER instead of AT each other. We can fix this broken relationship if we remember that we all matter.
There is no such thing as an insignificant human being. If God made us in his image and knows the number of hairs on our heads, no one is just a criminal, just a cop, just a guy, just a girl, just a woman or just a man. We all matter. That's the POINT of the Incarnation of Christ, and it's the point of standing up and saying "no more".
Refuse violence. Violence of spirit, physical violence, and violence of the heart. The only way to win this fight to reject the urge to seek revenge. Seek understanding. Remember that these are people we're talking about, not them but us.

Glad to hear the gunman who assassinated two NYPD officers (Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos) reportedly has been identified. My hearts goes out to the officers' families, who must pass these holidays grieving for these fallen public servants, loved ones killed in cold blood while on duty.
